Position SummaryWe are seeking a structured and academically focused 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers in this role prepare students for the transition to middle school by strengthening reading comprehension, analytical writing, and mathematical reasoning while building the independence, organizational habits, and accountability students need to succeed in Grades 6-12.
The ideal candidate balances strong relationships with consistent accountability and maintains a classroom culture where students feel supported and challenged.

Key Responsibilities- Deliver standards-aligned 5th grade instruction in ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies
- Strengthen reading comprehension, analytical writing, and multi-step mathematical reasoning aligned to 5th grade standards
- Use assessment data, including NWEA MAP and M-STEP results, to guide instruction and interventions
- Maintain structured classroom procedures and expectations that prepare students for the independence expected in middle school
- Communicate consistently with families
- Implement accommodations and intervention plans
- Participate in coaching cycles and team collaboration
- Maintain accurate records for grading and attendance
- Administer district and state assessments, including M-STEP
- Understanding of 5th grade curriculum, standards, and developmental needs
- Ability to analyze assessment data and adjust instruction
- Strong classroom management rooted in consistency and fairness
- Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining academic expectations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with elementary endorsement required
- Two or more years of teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated classroom management and instructional effectiveness
Candidates must hold valid Michigan certification prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
