Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pulmonary Function Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic tests to assess lung function and assist in the management of patients with respiratory conditions. This role requires a strong understanding of pulmonary physiology, medical terminology, and the ability to work effectively in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Duties
- Conduct pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, and diffusion capacity assessments.
- Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Monitor patients during tests to ensure safety and accuracy of results.
- Record and analyze test results, providing detailed reports to physicians.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in critical care settings, including ICU and PICU.
- Assist in airway management and provide basic life support as needed.
- Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in respiratory therapy and pulmonary function testing techniques.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following experience or skills:
- Background in hospital medicine or emergency medicine is preferred.
- Experience in critical care environments, such as ICU or PICU.
- Familiarity with ventilators and acute care settings.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to respiratory health.
- Clinic experience is a plus, particularly in outpatient pulmonary care.
