What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms position at Michigan House of Representatives?
The Michigan House of Representatives Sergeant-at-Arms Police Agency is currently accepting applications for Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms. This full-time law enforcement position involves dignitary protection, threat assessments and investigations. We are looking for a candidate with law enforcement experience, a positive and professional demeanor, good moral character, and sound judgement.
The predominant work schedule is Monday thru Friday, with weekends and state holidays off. Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms work under the supervision of the Chief of Police, at the direction of the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
Minimum Qualifications
• US Citizen
• MCOLES certified or eligible for re-certification
• Minimum of four years of law enforcement experience. Military experience may be considered towards this four years requirement
• Certified or able to be re-certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR and AED
• Possess an associate degree, with bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
• Basic computer skills and investigative experience is preferred
• Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
