The Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) has an immediate opening for a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join their team in Hancock, Michigan . WHAT WE OFFER.
- $40,000 – $60,000 annually based on experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO.
- Prepare and process weekly payroll for 20-180 employees across districts we serve.
- Manage and maintain payroll system ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Update payroll information, and handle employee inquiries regarding benefits and payroll.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to payroll and retirement reporting.
- Process contract changes, deductions, garnishments, and more.
- Prepare and distribute state and federal wage reports, including W-2’s.
- Support year-end audit preparation and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party administrators for payroll liabilities and vendor payments.
- Assist Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator in various tasks.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred, or minimum of 3 years’ relevant payroll-related experience.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll operations (payroll processing, payroll tax, retirement, insurance, employee benefits, addressing staff requests, etc.).
- Strong accounting and/or payroll software experience and ability to handle payroll audits.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace with ability to create reports, documents and spreadsheets.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
