Position Details
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess knowledge of the fundamentals of basketball with the ability to teach and demonstrate to students
- Ability to follow the direction of and work with existing coaching staff to develop necessary fundamental skills for betterment of the program
- Must be able to design and implement short term and long term goals
- Design a daily and weekly practice schedule with specific goals for team and individual development
- Must be willing to work camps and team camps as needed
- Effectively communicate with players, parents, and administration
- Must model appropriate behavior, promoting at all times the social, emotional, and moral well-being of CPS student-athletes
- Must be First Aid certified prior to the start of the 2026 season
- Must be CPR certified prior to the start of the 2026 season
- Must adhere to the Athletic Code for Coaches, as stated in the MHSAA Handbook
- Become a member of the Michigan High School Basketball Coaches Association
- Pass background check
PREFERRED
- Willing to work with players in off-season and provide help with high school basketball events
- Coaching experience, 2 years
- Willing to aid in fundraising activities
- CAP 1 or CAP 2 trained by the start of the 2026 season
- Have or willing to obtain CDL license
