TITLE: HEAD CUSTODIAN- FRASER HIGH SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certificate, license, or demonstrated experience in a related trade or specialized skill preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret basic operating instructions and technical information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff, vendors, and the public.
- Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use common software applications and work-related technology.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license required.
- Willingness to attend required training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and meet evolving technology and district needs.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may deem appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOAL: To provide and maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning learning environment that supports the educational process and serves the needs of students, staff, and the community.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and maintain assigned areas to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment.
- Maintain exterior grounds, including snow removal, lawn care, and general grounds upkeep.
- Assume primary responsibility for the care, cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance, and security of the assigned building and surrounding property.
- Conduct a daily, comprehensive inspection of a designated area of the building and grounds, identifying maintenance or custodial needs. Meet regularly with custodial staff to review priorities and address identified concerns.
- Upon arrival, disarm the building security system, verify the functionality of the electronic access control system, and prepare the building for daily occupancy.
- Coordinate work assignments and event setups for Assistant Head Custodians on both day and afternoon shifts to support conferences, extracurricular activities, community events, and other scheduled functions.
- Daily coordination of substitute custodians with the Director of Operations
- Perform and oversee preventive maintenance of building systems and complete or coordinate necessary repairs.
- Prepare and submit work orders, maintain supply inventories, order materials, respond to emails and voicemail messages, and assist with managing departmental supply budgets.
- Develop, implement, and oversee the annual summer cleaning program for the assigned building.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, administrators, students, parents, vendors, and community members.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with building staff, coworkers, administrators, vendors, students, and parents through professionalism and teamwork.
- Wear the assigned uniform and maintain a professional appearance and appropriate personal hygiene.
- Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations and Maintenance and/or the Building Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the negotiated contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations and Maintenance or his designee.
