Position Details
CONTRACTUAL PERIOD:
- Start date of July 1, 2026; 215 contractual days
- Contract extension pending outcome of year-end performance evaluation
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Commensurate with credentials and level of experience and in accordance with MPS administrative salary schedule. Role is full-time with benefits package.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an education-related field.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Valid Michigan K-12 Administrative Certificate or meet equivalent requirements.
- May also be actively pursuing certification requirements or commit to enrolling in program within the first six months of the role.
- Minimum of three (3) successful years of classroom teaching experience.
- Desired:
- Minimum of five (5) successful years of classroom teaching experience.
- Successful year(s) of experience in an administrative role.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership skills, along with a strong ability to work with students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical, with a wide variety of stakeholders, including staff, parents, students, and district administrators.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently.
- Must be proficient in current technology for performance of duties and have the ability to analyze relevant information and data.
- Knowledge of current best practice in educational methodology and state and federal regulations related to education is desired.
- Must understand child growth and development, as well as trauma-informed practices and PBIS (positive behavior interventions and supports).
- Must understand the school improvement process/plan.
- Knowledge of Title 1 and At-Risk (31a) processes and strategies.
- Effective organizational and problem-solving skills including resolution ability.
- Ability to perform duties with knowledge of district requirements and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with the responsibility for the operation and management of the elementary school building and program under the direct guidance and supervision of the K-12 Principal.
- Assist with the supervision and evaluation of the job performance of elementary staff under the supervision of the K-12 Principal
- Shall be responsible for the safety, welfare, and supervision of students and staff
- Develop and maintain a positive and productive school culture.
- Monitor the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program.
- Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Supports for academics and behavior.
- Analyze data relating to school performance on local, state and national assessments.
- Collaborate with the Director of Specialized Instruction on testing and the special education screening process.
- Enforce policies and procedures of the Board of Education.
- Act as a liaison between the district and community and promote positive relations.
- Lead staff professional development opportunities.
- Additional duties that may be assigned by the K-12 Principal.
