POSITION SUMMARY:
The CTE Welding Technology Teacher Assistant will support the Welding Teacher with high school CTE students who are learning skills in the Welding Technology lab(s). The location will be at Glen Oaks Community College.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate
- Knowledge of safety, repair, and maintenance
- Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel) and the ability and willingness to learn new technology
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationship skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Industry recognized Welding Certification, preferred
- 4,000 hours of work experience in a welding (or related) profession, preferred
- Experience working with high school age students, preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certification(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s). Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job
PERFORMANCE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with the instructor supporting students as they obtain practical skills and knowledge in the various areas of Welding Technology.
- Assist the instructor with various assignments, facilitate student learning, and supervise the students throughout the classroom and lab areas.
- Assist the instructor during all phases of instruction.
- Assist the instructor in maintaining student records.
- Assist the instructor with inventory, ordering, and accounting procedures.
- Assist the instructor with scheduling and conducting advisory meetings.
- Help maintain inventory, equipment, safety, and security.
- Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or instructor, which may include assisting with supervision in hallways, parking lots, etc.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: Executive Director of CTE
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Non-Union, 191-day position. Terms and other conditions of employment established by the Board of Education.
