POSITION SUMMARY:
The candidate will teach CTE Health Science fundamentals and advanced care skills related to certifications at Centreville High School. The teacher will provide students with skills and practical hands-on experiences in the healthcare field to provide marketable job skills necessary to be successful for future employment. This course is an exploratory CTE Healthcare course that will feed into the advanced Health Science course.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Department of Education CTE Teacher Certification with the following endorsement: Therapeutic Services 51.0000; OR
- Be eligible for an Annual Career Authorization. Associate’s degree or higher in a health-related field with 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the last 10 years. Previous teaching experience is preferred; Experience working with high school students is also preferred. A Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a preferred background. Other Healthcare professionals with experience as a medical assistant, x-ray technician, etc. may also be considered.

- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certification(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s). Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job
PERFORMANCE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Successfully develop the program curriculum based on technical, industry and academic standards.
- Plan appropriately and effectively for instruction including participating in PLCs.
- Maintain a positive climate for teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate appropriate classroom management.
- Effectively and efficiently direct the student learning process.
- Organize and maintain a business advisory board.
- Organize instructional activities that complement and enhance the learning process and other community service projects.
- Interact positively and appropriately with students, parents, and other staff members.
- Effectively monitor student progress and instructional effectiveness including use of electronic grade books and web-based applications.
- Attend professional development activities.
- Successfully meet annual Program Standards.
- Cooperate with special education staff to ensure appropriate IEP implementation and student accommodations.
- Coordinate articulation agreements with two and four year universities.
- Actively involve students in clubs and organizations. (HOSA, etc.)
- Develop and maintain a vision for the program.
- Stay current with industry needs, trends, and relative issues.
- Successfully market the program to local school districts.
- Successfully maintain the program budget.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: Executive Director of CTE
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Non-Union, 191-day position. Terms and other conditions of employment established by the Board of Education.
