Academic Coach – Lincoln High School (9-12)
- The Lincoln High School Academic Coach’s role will be to work directly with students needing additional support in order to become proficient in reading, writing, and mathematics. The role will be to provide support and interventions to at-risk students in those areas. They will provide small group interventions for students identified as needing intense intervention as a result of non-proficient test scores.
- The Instructional Specialist will be an integral part of the MTSS model at LHS. They will help to create and maintain flexible groups for maximum effectiveness. The Intervention Specialist must have the knowledge to support the organization of pre- and post-test data, as well as progress monitoring.
- The Instructional Specialist will work directly with staff to provide support for implementation and data analysis of formative and summative assessments including the MME and NWEA.
- The person serving in this capacity will work closely with the Administrative Team and Central Office.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Willingness to work cooperatively on a team
- Experience in the alignment of grade level content standards to curriculum, assessment and instruction
- Strong knowledge of best practice and research regarding intervention strategies designed to improve achievement in students struggling in reading, writing and mathematics
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies
- Knowledge of what the research has established as effective practices for struggling students
- Knowledge of how to connect the use of formative and summative assessments with curriculum, instruction and student achievement
- Knowledge of how to use assessment data to monitor learning and to guide instruction
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge and ability to use various forms of educational technology
- Ability to use effective public relations skills necessary for the successful implementation of new programs
- Knowledge of board policies and procedures
- Ability to provide leadership to school-based MTSS Program
Essential Functions:
- Provide targeted instruction to struggling students using research-based interventions and an MTSS model.
- Use data, including district-wide common assessments, to assist teachers in determining who will be targeted for interventions.
- Communicate regularly with principals, teachers and central office administrators.
- Evaluate current school intervention efforts in light of what the research establishes as effective practices for struggling students and identify which practices need to be revised.
- Work with staff on school-wide Data Walls to show progress and needs of all students within building.
