What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Welder/Fabricator position at Michie Concrete Products?
Build More Than Metal. Build Infrastructure That Lasts.
Are you an experienced welder who takes pride in craftsmanship? Looking for a career where your skills are valued, every project is different, and the work you do helps build bridges, highways, retaining walls, and infrastructure throughout New England?
At Michie Concrete Products, our welders are more than welders—they're problem solvers, fabricators, and craftsmen. You'll build, repair, and modify the custom steel forms that produce the precast concrete structures used on projects across the region.
If you're looking for a stable, year-round career where you can put your fabrication skills to work on meaningful projects, we'd love to talk with you.
What You'll Do
- Fabricate, repair, and modify custom steel forms used to manufacture precast concrete products
- Perform MIG, stick, and other welding processes as required
- Read blueprints, sketches, and shop drawings to complete fabrication projects
- Work closely with our Maintenance Manager and production team to solve fabrication and equipment challenges
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on precast forms and related equipment
- Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, torches, and other shop tools
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Take pride in building products that become bridges, culverts, retaining walls, utility structures, and other infrastructure throughout New England
What We're Looking For
- Previous welding and fabrication experience required
- Experience with MIG and stick welding
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and accurately measure materials
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Experience using fabrication equipment and hand tools
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
- Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-focused
- Valid driver's license
Experience working in structural steel, heavy equipment, manufacturing, precast concrete, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Overtime opportunities
- Full benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and holidays
- Stable, year-round employment
- Work on custom fabrication projects—not repetitive production welding
- Family-owned company celebrating over 50 years of success
- Modern equipment and a well-equipped maintenance shop
- Opportunities to grow your skills and take on challenging fabrication projects
- A team that works hard, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and enjoys what they do
