Job Title: Part-Time Accountant
Location: On site 1702 E 7TH Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20-30 hours per week
Reports To: Controller / Supply Chain Coordinator/ Plant Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a small business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger accounts and post journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Review payroll reports and assist with payroll-related accounting entries
- Prepare or assist with sales tax filings and other routine compliance reports
- Support external accountants with audit, tax, or year-end reporting requests
- Support Supply Chain Coordinator with daily orders and duties
- Support Plant Manager with operational reports as needed
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Identify discrepancies and recommend process improvements
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a small or mid-sized business
- Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage deadlines with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payroll and sales tax filings
- Prior public accounting or manufacturing/operational accounting experience
