Commercial Driver's License A Truck Driver

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced CDL Class A truck driver (flatbeds) to make structural steel deliveries to the Tri-State area including NYC, along with class B deliveries. Deliveries are mainly during the day with occasional limited night runs.

Duties

• Transport fabricated structural steel over land to and from customer job sites and vendor facilites, following all DOT (Dept of Transportation) regulations and safety standards.
• 2 years driving experience with steel hauling and/or oversize loads preferred
• Conduct pre-trip inspections, monitor vehicle performance during trips and perform post-trip checks to maintain truck safety and compliance.
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
• Comply with truck driving rules and regualtions (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as comply with company policies and procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Collect and verify delivery instructions
• Report defects, accidents or violations
• Capable of working in shop and steel yard when not driving
• Forklift experience a plus
• Maintain detail logs of driving hours, cargo details, inspection reports and compliance documentation in line with FMCSA regulations.
• Hourly rate based on experience.

Experience

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with clean driving record.
• Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with steel hauling or oversize loads.
• Experience securing loads with use of straps and chains.
