Position Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Civil/Subrogation Paralegal to support attorneys in civil litigation matters with a focus on subrogation claims and civil defense. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, strong writing skills, case management skills, experience in insurance-related recovery matters, and the ability to manage files from intake through resolution. The candidate is expected to navigate through the various courts throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities
Case Management
- Open, organize, and maintain civil litigation and subrogation files
- Review insurance policies, claims files, and supporting documentation
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement demands
- Monitor deadlines and maintain litigation calendars
- Analyze liability and damages in property, auto, and/or workers’ compensation subrogation matters
- Communicate with insurance carriers, adjusters, and opposing counsel
- Prepare and track medical treatment and medical billing
- Draft complaints, answers, motions, and propound/respond to discovery
- Prepare subpoenas and coordinate service of process
- Assist with deposition preparation
- Support attorneys in trial preparation including trial notebooks
- File documents with state and federal courts (including e-filing systems)
- Summarize discovery responses
- Maintain regular communication with clients and carriers
- Track recoveries and assist with disbursement documentation
- Coordinate conferences with clients to respond to written discovery and obtain required information
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Paralegal certificate required
- 3 years of civil litigation and/or subrogation experience
- Knowledge of court rules and filing procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software
- Experience with e-filing systems (state and federal courts)
- Insurance defense or plaintiff-side subrogation
- Workers’ compensation lien recovery
- Property damage or auto subrogation claims
