We are seeking an experienced Diesel Diagnostic Technician to help support our mission of transporting students safely every day.Job SummaryThe Diesel Diagnostic Technician performs advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on our school bus fleet. This role requires strong technical expertise in diesel engines, electronic diagnostic tools, and preventative maintenance practices.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, and major vehicle components.Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, fuel systems, brakes, and other critical systems.Utilize OEM diagnostic software and electronic diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues.Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure fleet readiness and safety.Document all diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance activities in company systems.Collaborate with maintenance staff to prioritize and coordinate repair schedules.Test systems for performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as needed.Stay up to date on emerging diesel technologies and repair techniques.Qualifications3–5 years of diesel mechanic/technician experience (school bus or heavy-duty fleet experience preferred).Proficiency with OEM diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Allison DOC, CAT ET, JPRO).ASE certifications in Diesel Engines, Electrical/Electronic Systems, or Medium/Heavy Truck Brakes preferred.Experience with air and hydraulic brakes, suspension systems, and CARB emissions compliance.Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking maintenance and repairs.Ability to pass required screenings and obtain a CDL (Class A/B with Air Brake & Passenger endorsements). Training provided.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.High school diploma or equivalent; vocational diesel training a plus.Clean driving record (current DMV K4 required).Must posess journeyman-level tools.Additional RequirementsMust be able and willing to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as required by the Shop Manager.Ability to work a varied schedule and participate in required training.Willingness to learn and collaborate with others.Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships using strong customer service principles.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to work in various weather conditions.Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.Additional Employment PoliciesPre-Employment Testing & Background CheckA.
