Job Description
- Reporting into the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Gather, document, and organize surgeon feedback from evaluations, labs, and clinical use of spinal implants and instruments
- Analyze feedback to identify opportunities for design, usability, and workflow improvements
- Convert clinical insights into clear engineering requirements for design and R&D teams
- Collaborate with surgeons, internal engineers, and external manufacturing partners to assess prototypes and production tools
- Track design iterations and maintain detailed feedback and change documentation
- Support verification, validation, and usability testing activities
- Contribute to the development of surgical technique guides and training materials
- Assist with regulatory documentation, risk assessments, and design control processes
- Participate in cross‑functional reviews to ensure clinical input is embedded throughout development
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least three years' experience in medical device development within spinal products
- Strong understanding of surgical workflows
- Comfortable engaging with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
- Working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks and technical documentation
- Familiarity with design controls, usability engineering, and risk management
- Exposure to additive manufacturing and FDA Class II/ISO‑regulated environments would be advantageous
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, and able to translate complex feedback into practical design solutions
- A varied and technically engaging engineering role with real clinical exposure
