The Lead Estimator plays a critical leadership role within the preconstruction team, overseeing the development, review, and approval of project estimates for complex mechanical and MEP construction projects. This position reports directly to the Chief Estimator and serves as a key quality-control and decision-making resource across the estimating function.

Job Description
The Lead Estimator is responsible for:
- Leading the preparation and execution of project estimates in accordance with company standards and procedures
- Reviewing project documents, drawings, and scope requirements to ensure accurate and complete estimating deliverables
- Coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support pricing, scope clarity, and bid development
- Evaluating scope changes, pricing variances, and inconsistencies, and providing recommendations that support project and profitability goals
- Ensuring estimates are accurate, complete, and suitable for use as cost control and management tools by project teams
- Supporting the development and refinement of estimating processes, including non-standard or complex work scopes
- Maintaining updated take-offs and estimating information throughout the bidding process and supporting bid finalization efforts
- Exercising sound judgment, making timely decisions, and performing additional responsibilities as assigned
- Responsible for approval of all project estimations before they are finalized
The Successful Applicant
The Right Candidate Has The Following Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong focus on mechanical construction
- Proven experience estimating HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
- Demonstrated experience working on large, complex projects ($500K-$60M)
- Strong understanding of MEP coordination and estimating best practices
- Experience reviewing, validating, and approving estimates for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to lead estimating efforts while collaborating across teams and disciplines
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with executives, project teams, and trade partners
- Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit, and estimating software tools
The Lead Estimator Will Receive
- Base salary up to $120K (dependent on experience)
