Job Description
The Lead CNC Engineer will report directly into the Machine Shop Manager and be responsible for:
- Develop CNC programs using industry‑standard CAM software (e.g., MasterCAM) and manage file transfer systems.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 2‑, 3‑, and 4‑axis mills and lathes independently.
- Plan machining approaches, estimate labor and time requirements, and document progress through ERP systems.
- Determine appropriate tooling and work‑holding solutions based on materials, tolerances, and part geometry.
- Create setup instructions and machining documentation for use by machinists and operators.
- Verify part quality using precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and related tools.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, streamline setups, and improve repeatability.
- Support new product introduction efforts by validating manufacturability and achieving high first‑run success rates.
- Provide guidance to machinists on programming techniques, machining best practices, and shop floor problem‑solving.

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of CNC manufacturing or process engineering experience (aerospace preferred).
- Proficiency with multi-axis CNC programming (Mastercam, PartMaker, or similar).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.
- Hands-on experience with tooling selection and fixture design.
- Familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and continuous improvement mindset (Lean/6 Sigma is a plus).
