Job Description
The suitable Senior Backend Engineer - Java will have the following responsibilities:
- Be the internal Backend architecture expert, driving standards.
- Improve the quality of internal software by reshaping legacy areas.
- Own reliability and performance by identifying bugs & issues and improving the company UX with attainable outcomes
- Mentor junior engineers, leading by example and sharing best practice.
- Work with a variety of teams across the organization, mainly product & design to ensure requirements are clear and executed successfully
- Be a great communicator and collaborator, working with team members on code reviews and shared problem solving. This role will be across multiple time zones and it's a remote position, so being a clear and concise communicator is an absolute must!

The Successful Applicant
The suitable Senior Backend Engineer - Java, will have the following:
- Bachelors Degree
- A minimum of 5 and ideally 7-10 years Java development & backend engineering experience
- Ecommerce experience is a HUGE plus
- You must be an expert in Java and also have experience with at least 1 additional backend and frontend language
- Experience improving legacy codebases
- Automated testing experience
- Microservices architecture knowledge and expertise
- CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes & AWS experience
- Excellent communication - this company is all about collaboration
