What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner, Dermatology position at Michael G. Cedars, MD, Inc.?
I am a board-certified plastic surgeon with a private office on "Pill Hill" in Oakland, and I share an office with a superb board-certified dermatologist. We need an experienced NP to treat our medical dermatology patients, as our dermatologist no longer sees them.
We are looking for an experienced NP, certified by a recognized national certifying body, ideally 103-certified, who knows skin lesions and needs little supervision for TSE and biopsies, because we are turning away many medical derm patients daily.
Applicant must be comfortable with TSE, recognizing and treating common skin disorders, performing biopsies by shave, punch, and excision, and knowing when to refer. Know when to be suspicious of possible MM.
Practice would start with medical dermatology patients, but expansion into cosmetic dermatology is available and encouraged. We offer half-time work immediately, which may well be able to increase over time to full-time. We are in a prime high-rise location (indoor parking!) in Oakland with a wonderful patient base.
We are not a large corporation that will demand an assembly-line work schedule. I am specifically looking for an individual who knows medical dermatology very well and is interested in having some control over their own schedule and looking for a wonderful small-practice work environment.
Compensation would be based on a percentage of net receipts rather than hourly, so this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced self-motivated practitioner. Minimum of 2 years of medical dermatology is an absolute requirement. Lack of 103 certification may be acceptable but would affect compensation and would be expected to be temporary.
Experience with medical lasers is a plus.
Experience with EMA or PN a big plus and would be a preferable EMR system.
Busy office requires getting along well with multiple staff members.
Must have excellent language and communication skills; multiple languages a plus
Proficiency with social media beneficial.
Must be willing and eager to learn; and take instruction and correction well.
Although we are professional and the office modern and extremely clean, the office has a warm and friendly ambience, and we work hard to get to know our patients, many of whom are returning over many years.
There is a broad range of patient concerns and treatments, incl. Total Skin Exams; excisions and biopsies; skin peels; Acne; multiple lasers and other electronic devices.
Must enter patient data and treatment details into the electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner, with appropriate help from MAs.
Would be expected to have or obtain NPI and participating provider position with Medicare and major insurance companies.
