Role Description The Associate Attorney will work on-site in New London, CT in a full-time capacity, supporting the firm’s legal matters from intake through resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching relevant laws and regulations, drafting pleadings, motions, agreements, and correspondence, and providing legal analysis to support case strategy. The role involves advising municipal and private sector clients under supervision, participating in negotiations, and preparing for and attending hearings, conferences, and other legal proceedings as needed. The Associate Attorney will collaborate with the principal attorney and staff to manage caseloads, maintain organized files, and ensure deadlines and procedural requirements are met. Additional tasks include maintaining clear communication with clients, tracking matter progress, and contributing to the continuous improvement of firm processes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, with the ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Experience or coursework in Labor and Employment Law, or a demonstrated interest in this practice area.
- Ability to provide sound Legal Advice under supervision, focusing on clear, practical guidance for clients.
- Advanced Research skills, including legal research tools, fact-finding, and drafting research memoranda.
- Effective Negotiation skills for settlements, agreements, and client advocacy in various forums.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to the Connecticut Bar or eligibility for admission in a reasonable timeframe.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethical judgment, and ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort working on-site and collaborating with a small team while taking ownership of assigned tasks.
