This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:
The Environmental Service Technician (VS) - Housekeeping Aid Supervisor maintains VA facilities for Veterans and their families and are essential to the patient care experience at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). A VA healthcare career as a HKA-EVS Technician means working alongside other Veterans, who make up 85 percent of the housekeeping staff.Duties Include:
- Assign staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis.
- Cleaning of all patient areas, corridor spaces throughout Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned.
- Exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training)
- Trains staff and ensures that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients, patients' family members and personnel.
- Keeps subordinates abreast of prope3r methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies; control the use of supplies and equipment to affected cost control within the unit.
- Approves leave requests for subordinates, counsels' employees, and recommends disciplinary action to a higher-level supervisor whenever non-compliance with policy warrants.
- Coordinates activities with other services, including rearranging work schedules during remodeling, painting and relocation of offices, clinics or patient wards and other duties which help coordinate moves.
- Inspects assigned areas, recording discrepancies in cleanliness, needed maintenance repairs, broken or inadequately stored furnishing and equipment.
- Establishes guidelines, operating procedures and department and Medical Center policy.
Work Schedule: TBD / Monday - Friday (6:00am - 2:30pm / 7:00am-3:30pm / 8:00am-4:30pm / 2:30pm-11:00pm / 3:30pm-12md) (subject to change based on the needs of the service) (Tours of duty may vary depending on the internal department needs with weekdays, weekends, day and evening shift schedules).
