Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in procedures using the Medent Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently, coordinate with medical staff, and manage calendar updates to optimize clinic flow.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks.
- Maintain accurate medical records by updating patient information, reviewing documentation for completeness, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, respond promptly to patient inquiries, and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks including filing, data entry, and managing electronic records using Medent.
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, reviewing documentation accuracy, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office role, orthopedic preferred but not mandatory, with familiarity in clinic operations and front desk responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems. Medent preferred.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and familiarity with health information management software.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Previous experience in a medical office is mandatory
