Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their insurance information, and assist with appointment scheduling using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Experience with Athenahealth is beneficial
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, handling inquiries, appointment requests, and follow-up calls promptly.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate insurance information entry and updates in EHR systems.
- Collect and process payments, perform medical billing tasks including prior authorizations, ICD-9/10 coding, and ensure proper documentation review for billing accuracy.
- Maintain organized medical records and files in compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Assist with medical administrative support such as intake procedures, appointment confirmations, and care plan documentation.
- Support clinic operations by managing front desk activities like filing, faxing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies using Microsoft Office tools.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office as a medical receptionist within a clinical or dental setting.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Athenahealth.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally and compassionately.
- Bilingual abilities are required to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with multi-line phone systems preferred.
- Ability to review documentation accurately while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
