What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Electronics Installer position at Miami Wired?
We are the exclusive distributor for the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device in Florida. Over 4,000,000 Ravelco’s have been sold worldwide since 1976, and not once has a vehicle been stolen by bypassing the Ravelco.
Car and Driver Magazine ranked the Ravelco #2 of their list of “5 Way to Avoid Auto Theft” right behind “take out your keys.”
We are looking for custom fabricators and auto/truck mechanics to install the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device in cars, trucks, big rigs and heavy equipment. We are actively looking for friendly professionals who are more concerned about quality than a quick install to service South and Central Florida.
Our mobile installers are home based and travel to customer sites to install the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device. This position requires working with electrical systems and light mechanical work (removing lower dash, air boxes, batteries, etc.).
The position requires excellent customer service and electrical skills. A desire to perform work you can be proud of is a must.
The installer needs to:
- Have good customer skills- polite, professional, well spoken
- Have reliable transportation (car or truck)
- Have experience working with cars or trucks
- Be comfortable working with vehicle electrical systems, and know the basics of working safely around electricity
- Know the proper methods of soldering electrical wires as crimp connectors are not used in our installations
- Be quality & detail oriented and customer satisfaction focused
- Provide their own tools (wrenches, sockets, wire cutters/strippers, portable soldering iron, portable drill, etc.)
- Have regular access to a computer, email, and printer
- Be competent troubleshooting
A MECP is a big plus, but not necessary.
We will provide installation training, support, inventory and supplies. We will provide vehicle specific wires for most installations and we work very closely with our installers.
This is a 1099 contract position.
Installations take from 1 to 2.5 hours to complete. 1.5 hours is the average.
Work days are flexible, however a normal schedule would be Monday through Friday with the occasional Saturday required.
Pay is $100 per installation (averages out to be $50-$70/hr). Any Central/West Coast Florida jobs will have a minimum of 4 vehicles to complete and we will also pay for travel time at the hourly rate of $20/hr, a typical Central/West Coast of Florida run will pay around $500 for the day. If there are more than 4 installations in the area we will also provide hotel accommodations. This will happen approximately once per month. Paid training at $20/hr.
