About the Position
Miami Optical is an established, family-owned practice in Chicago. We are looking for an experienced, high-energy professional to join our team. We maintain a fast-paced environment and believe in rewarding hard work with above-market compensation and a schedule that respects your time—we are closed every Saturday and Sunday.
This role is a "hybrid" position, perfect for a versatile professional who can pivot between clinical pre-testing, administrative tasks, and high-end optical sales.
Core Responsibilities
- Clinical Pre-Testing: Prepare patients for their exam by conducting preliminary tests, including Auto-Refraction and Lensometry.
- Sales & Styling: Expertly assist customers with frame selection and recommend specialized lens packages (progressives, coatings, etc.) tailored to their needs.
- Patient Coordination: Manage the front-office flow, including answering phones, scheduling, and checking patients in/out.
- Insurance & Logistics: Verify vision and medical benefits (VSP, EyeMed, etc.) and accurately process orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Candidate Requirements
- Industry Experience: 1–2 years of experience in an optical or optometry setting is required. You must be comfortable handling basic optical equipment.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Must be fully fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Professional Drive: Ability to multi-task and thrive in a busy, high-productivity environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
- Schedule: Monday – Friday only. No weekends.
