Duties

- Supervise and manage food service teams, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring meals are prepared safely, accurately, and in accordance with health code regulations and food safety standards.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine dietary needs, including specialized diets such as tube feeding or diagnostic evaluation requirements.
- Manage the dietary department’s budget, including purchasing supplies, controlling costs, and maintaining inventory levels for optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with all health regulation policies and maintain accurate documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for meal planning and resident care documentation.
- Lead food safety management initiatives, monitor quality control procedures, and ensure adherence to food service health code standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans that incorporate nutritional strategies and health coaching techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary services through resident feedback, clinical nutrition assessments, and ongoing quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care settings with a strong background in dietary management.
- Knowledge of physiology, clinical nutrition, dietetics principles, and food service health code compliance.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience managing food service teams within a dietary department environment.
- Familiarity with managing budgets, food production processes, and food safety management systems.
- Ability to perform patient assessments related to nutrition needs and manage specialized diets such as tube feeding or acute care requirements.
- Strong understanding of health regulation policies and proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team management, staff development, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Experience with food service management software and inventory control tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to food safety and nutrition standards is essential.
