What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collision - Body Shop Paint Finsher/Polisher/Buffer position at MIAMI LAKES AM & CJ?

Job Description

Hollywood Chrysler Jeep Collision Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finisher/Prepper for our paint department. This critical role ensures the ultimate quality of the vehicle's finish by handling all preparation work—making sure properly repaired and primed panels are flawless before painting—and executing the final finishing work, including color sanding and buffing, to achieve a professional, high-quality final appearance that meets dealership standards. Adherence to all Body Shop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Preparation Phase:
    • Inspect all repairs and primed panels for proper and complete body repairs and primer application as defined in SOP.
    • Review any incomplete, missed damage, or improper repairs with management before proceeding.
    • Mask/protect adjacent panels (non-refinish) from scratches or damage before final sanding and refinishing.
    • Prepare properly repaired and primed panels (including blend panels) for final finish application using abrasives, power tools, and hand tools, as directed in SOP.
    • Ensure proper paint adhesion by cleaning and removing all dust and other particles from repair/refinish panels completely prior to moving vehicles to the paint booth.
  • Finishing Phase:
    • Avoid over-sanding (cutting through the finish) or under-sanding (leaving visible sand scratches) during prep work.
    • Perform color sand and buffing (CSB) to restore refinish texture quality and ensure a flawless final appearance, free of imperfections.
  • Operational & Safety:
    • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
    • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor (e.g., training new employees, housekeeping duties).
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of body shop prepping/finishing/buffing experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb. Ability to lift 1-15 pounds (e.g., light hand tools, etc.). Requires manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks, and vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Consistent workload and steady workflow in a professional dealership environment.
  • Supportive team environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and training.

We are an equal-opportunity employer.  All applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected characteristic.
