Miami Children's Museum is looking for a caring, creative, and enthusiastic Toddler Teacher to join our Early Childhood Institute team. This is more than a teaching position—it's an opportunity to help shape a child's earliest learning experiences while working in a collaborative, inspiring environment that values curiosity, creativity, and child-led discovery.
As a Toddler Teacher, you'll create a warm, responsive classroom where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and Museum Education, you'll design engaging, hands-on experiences that encourage exploration, independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Duties
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom where toddlers can thrive.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and play-based learning.
- Support each child's cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development through meaningful daily interactions.
- Build strong relationships with children and families through open communication and partnership.
- Observe and document each child's growth and developmental milestones while maintaining accurate records.
- Foster curiosity through sensory play, movement, music, storytelling, art, nature, and hands-on experiences.
- Use positive guidance techniques to support emotional regulation, independence, and early social skills.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and leadership to create an enriching and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom that encourages discovery and independence.
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and child welfare regulations.
Experience
- Experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare, preschool, or early childhood education setting.
- CDA, 45 DCF Hours, or a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- A patient, nurturing, and positive approach to working with young children.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and team members.
- Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Screening and drug screening.
- Experience with the Reggio Emilia philosophy is a plus—but a passion for learning and growing is even more important!
