APRN

An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides primary and specialty healthcare. Like a physician, they assess and diagnose patients, order laboratory tests, prescribe medications, and manage health conditions. APRNs also educate their patients on how to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct health assessments including recording complete medical and psychosocial history
• Record symptoms, physically examine patients, and make diagnoses.
• Develop a treatment plan that may include medication and other therapies.
• Provide patient education to promote habits that will prevent diseases and maintain good health.
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including physicians and nurses.
• Order and interpret laboratory test results.
• Follow up on a patient to determine the effectiveness of recommended treatments.
• Frequently manages other members of the healthcare team such as RNs and licensed practical nurses.
• Understands & encourages staff alignment with PCMH guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Education / Licenses:

• Master's degree in nursing required.
• Active license in state of practice.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred and must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Excellent leadership, customer service, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of medications, indications, usage, and side effects.
• Excellent communication skills, including listening, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to feel compassion for patients, their families, and others.
• Able to always respect and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Able to work independently.
• Ability to place accurate prescription orders.
• Able to follow policies and procedures.
