Arlington Catholic is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and knowledgeable Freshman Volleyball Head Coach to lead our incoming student-athletes. The ideal candidate will focus on fundamental skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparing athletes for higher levels of competition within the program. The role requires a strong communicator who can foster a positive, supportive, and competitive team environment.
Job Requirements
Teach fundamental volleyball techniques (passing, setting, serving, hitting, blocking, and base defense/offense positions).
Plan, organize, and execute structured daily practices that are energetic, purposeful, and aligned with the varsity program’s overall strategy.
Game-plan, manage player rotations, and make real-time strategic decisions during matches.
Emphasize academic success, sportsmanship, discipline, and high moral character on and off the court.
Create an inclusive environment where student-athletes build confidence and a strong work ethic.
Handle minor conflict resolution and support student-athletes navigating the transition into high school athletics.
Collaborate closely with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure vertical alignment in skill instruction and team philosophy.
Manage equipment, maintain accurate rosters, monitor academic eligibility, and track player attendance.
Clearly communicate practice schedules, game logistics, and expectations to players and parents/guardians in a timely manner.
Assist in organizing home match setup
Experience: Prior coaching or playing experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level required.
Deep understanding of NFHS (or relevant state association) volleyball rules, fundamental mechanics, and strategy.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with high school students, parents, administration, and coaching staff.
