Salary Range: $50,000–$60,000 annually, depending on experience

THE ORGANIZATION: Mi Familia Vota (MFV) and Mi Familia en Acción (MFA) are national Latino-led civic engagement organizations working year-round to strengthen democracy and empower our communities.

MFA, a 501(c)(3), focuses on nonpartisan programs such as citizenship, voter registration, voter education, and leadership development on key issues, including immigration, education, healthcare, voting rights, workers’ rights, reproductive rights, and the environment.

MFV, a 501(c)(4) organization, builds Latino political power through advocacy, organizing, and mobilization to ensure that Latino voices shape the policies that impact their health, safety, and prosperity.

Together, we operate one of the largest Latino civic engagement infrastructures in the country, with programs across eight states (Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida) and Washington, D.C.

Position Overview:

Mi Familia Vota Arizona is seeking a passionate and experienced Election Protection Organizer committed to building power with immigrant communities and communities of color while safeguarding voting rights and ensuring equitable access to the electoral process for all communities.

The Election Protection Organizer will focus on base-building, leadership development, and advocacy related to protecting the right to vote, access to the ballot, and the safety of voters. This role works directly with community members to develop leaders, mobilize collective action and training, and support campaigns that advance free, safe and fair elections for all.

The ideal candidate brings experience in grassroots organizing and community leadership development and is skilled at building authentic relationships across diverse communities. This person must be deeply committed to working alongside low-income and working-class families and leaders and their allies and have an understanding of the lived realities and organizing conditions within Latinx communities and communities of color.

We are seeking an Election Protection Organizer who shares our progressive values and is excited to help build and strengthen election protection organizing efforts around the state, with a particular emphasis in Maricopa County. This role supports community education, policy advocacy, coalition-building, and campaign work while helping community members grow as leaders and advocates.

This is a temporary, seasonal position anticipated to run from August 3, 2026, through December 3, 2026, subject to operational needs, with travel within Arizona as much as 50% of the time.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and grow a base community members passionate about protecting our Democracy through outreach, canvassing, phone/text banking, and relationship-building
  • Recruit, train, and support community leaders and volunteers in speaking at local government meetings, monitoring polls, responding to election-related threats and more
  • Lead election protection (EP) and election safeguarding efforts for the organization
  • Coordinate and facilitate election protection workshops and trainings 
  • Organize and support actions, town halls, forums, and advocacy events
  • Share EP educational content through appropriate communication channels, including social media, to expand awareness and share accurate election information
  • Engage in monitoring threats to elections and voter access, and mobilizing community-based rapid response
  • Support the development and sharing of EP educational materials and toolkits, both traditional (print and other formats) and digital communication platforms 
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings to develop leaders and move members to action
  • Support coordination of volunteer polling place assignments in collaboration with coalition partners and staff
  • Build relationships with community partners, coalitions, and stakeholders, representing the organization in the Election Protection AZ coalition
  • Maintain accurate organization of data and documentation
  • Collaborate with communications and program teams on campaign outreach
  • Participate in nonpartisan education and outreach activities to expand awareness of EP work
  • Share EP educational content through appropriate communication channels, including social media, to expand awareness and share accurate election information
  • Attend evening and weekend activities on a regular basis, connecting with community members when they’re most available
  • Participate in other organization-wide efforts as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community organizing, advocacy, or related movement work
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding Democracy within a framework of racial, economic, and immigrant justice
  • Fluency, in English and Spanish, both in speaking and in writing
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse communities
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to learn about politics and processes governing elections, and communicate about them accurately with the community and stakeholders
  • Comfortable with outreach, public speaking, and relational organizing
  • Ability to travel throughout Arizona as needed.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a computer and mobile devices.
