Reports To: School Administrator (Clinical supervision provided by the Florida Department of Health)

The School Nurse provides high-quality clinical care to our diverse student body, ranging from toddlers (age 1) through 8th grade. Operating out of our brand-new, state-of-the-art health clinic, the nurse is a cornerstone of our community. We believe that healthy kids are prepared to learn, and this role is dedicated to supporting teachers, families, and staff in promoting and maintaining childhood health.

Due to frequent and essential communication with families whose primary language is Spanish, application priority will be given to fully bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants with documented experience in pediatric nursing.

• Clinical Care Across the Lifespan: Provide age-appropriate direct nursing care, first aid, and emergency support for students from 12 months old through early adolescence.




• Chronic Condition Management: Act as the primary lead for students with complex health needs, including:

  
  
  
  

  • Allergy Management: Oversight of allergy action plans, EpiPen administration, and staff training.

  
  

  • Seizure Disorders: Implementation of seizure action plans, monitoring, and emergency intervention.

  
  

  • Diabetes Care: Blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration support, and carb counting.

  
  



• Health Screenings & Prevention: Coordinate and complete all state-mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, and scoliosis) and maintain meticulous compliance records.




• Administrative Excellence: Maintain accurate, confidential, and digital student health records, medication logs, and immunization audits in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.




• Family & Staff Support: Act as a resource for families and staff, providing guidance on childhood health, infection control, and wellness to ensure a safe learning environment.

Required:

• Licensure: Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.




• Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification (Healthcare Provider level).




• Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with managing allergies, seizure disorders, and Type 1 Diabetes in a pediatric setting.




• Language: Full professional fluency in English.

Preferred:

• Bilingualism: Full professional fluency in Spanish (High Priority).




• Experience: Experience in pediatric nursing, school nursing, or community health.

• The Facility: You will be the inaugural occupant of our new state-of-the-art clinic, featuring modern diagnostic tools and dedicated medical storage.




• Physicality: May require standing, walking, and occasional positioning of students or medical equipment.




• Safety: Exposure to communicable diseases and varied medical situations; adherence to strict infection control practices is required.
