Licensure Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or hold a valid compact RN license, as applicable. Must meet all state Board of Nursing requirements. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire. Certifications The following certifications may be required based on the department, specialty, or unit assignment, or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the department: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON) Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Certification Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (C-EFM) Additional unit-specific certifications as required Physical Requirements Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts. Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
