Medical Lab Technician I

The Medical Laboratory Technician I is part of the provider care team who helps with diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through the use of technical and scientific knowledge. This position is responsible for accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests. The Medical Laboratory Technician I evaluates and reports test results while assuring compliance and meeting all regulatory requirements consistent with the quality of a World Class Laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Technician I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service in all internal and external customer interactions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Medical Lab Technician PRN Mercy - Berryville Qualifications: • Education: Be a high school graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician). OR Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent and have documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens. • Experience: 1-year acceptable clinical laboratory experience. • Preferred Education: Associate's degree in chemistry, biology or other science related field that meets requirements for certification agency requirements. • Preferred Certifications: MLT (ASCP) or equivalent. Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
