Position Details: Key Responsibilities Oversees patient care delivery using the nursing process and ensures coordination of care based on patient needs and staff competency Ensures appropriate staffing levels and collaborates on patient flow and bed management Serves as a leader, mentor, and role model; provides feedback, coaching, and accountability Promotes a positive work environment and staff engagement through shared governance and recognition Communicates effectively with leadership, staff, and providers; escalates issues as needed Supports regulatory compliance, policy adherence, and accreditation standards Participates in performance improvement, quality initiatives, and root cause analyses Addresses patient concerns and supports service recovery to improve satisfaction Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Licensure: Current RN license Experience: 3–5 years of hospital nursing experience Certifications: AHA Healthcare Provider (required or within probation) TNCC, ACLS, and ENPC or PALS (as applicable) Skills Strong clinical and leadership skills Effective communication and problem-solving Ability to support staff development and ensure quality patient care Why Mercy? Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
