MHE Engineering, DPC. is a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm located in Southern New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The primary areas of practice include civil/municipal engineering, structural engineering, construction administration and observation. The firm was founded in 1978 and operates two offices in New Windsor, NY, and Milford, PA.
Summary
MHE has an immediate opening for an Engineering Technician/Environmental Scientist. A primary role will be conducting field inspections on active construction projects to record activities and compliance, and managing the data being collected.
Responsibilities
- Perform Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) inspections in the field, observing construction progress, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for projects throughout Orange County.
- Conduct regular inspections of municipal post-application construction sites to ensure Stormwater Erosion & Sedimentation Control compliance.
- Preparing detailed technical SWPPP reports and maintaining related on-site documents
- Organize routine field notes and daily logs.
Qualifications
- Minimum BA/BS in Environmental Science or similar
- 2-5 years of experience in permitting, monitoring, construction oversight
- Understanding of NYSDEC stormwater regulations
- Ability to work outdoors with local travel required (50%)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical writing for reports and correspondence
- CPESC, CESSWI certifications preferred.
Experience
- Prior experience in engineering technology or environmental science roles is preferred but not mandatory; relevant internships are welcome.
- Erosion and sediment control and stormwater management regulations.
- Strong understanding and ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with data collection techniques is highly desirable.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
