This position is responsible for all sanding and painting of lift trucks at the Lexington, KY location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Remove dirt or grease from vehicle surfaces and ensure that the lift truck is well prepared and ready for painting.
• Carry out a proper examination to see if certain parts of the lift truck need to be replaced, protected, or sanded to ensure that painting is properly done.
• Remove old paint with the use of liquid paint remover, scraper, sander, or other effective techniques.
• Ensure that certain portions of the lift trucks are masked with tape and paper to ensure that each part of the car is painted correctly when using multiple colors.
• Apply primers and repainting surfaces with the use of spray guns.
• Use materials such as bondo, lacquer, resin, and others to paint surfaces of lift truck units.
• Comply with all safety and hazardous material procedures, including hazardous waste management.
• Ensure that hand tools are properly maintained.
• Properly maintain paint booth by replacing filters and fan belts, when necessary.
• Maintain workplace organization.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• One or more years of painting and detail experience or training in automotive, heavy equipment, or related field.
• Voluntary certification such as the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence is preferred.
• Ability to learn and understand paint and detail processes and techniques with an eye for detail.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Experience with the necessary equipment and the appropriate use of safety materials such as respirators required for use with associated chemicals.
• Ability to work hours as required for the position (overtime will be required as needed).
• Detail-oriented with ability to pay particular attention to color mix, various components or parts of a lift truck, etc.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Regular and prompt attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some overtime may be required. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
