Network Transportation Manager
Position Summary:
The Network Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing the relationships and activities associated with inbound inventory, transfers and outbound shipments of all carrier types. They are responsible for negotiating contracts and ongoing spot pricing and ensuring carriers provide high quality service and dependable support for all MFS locations. This role is also charged with identifying and executing opportunities for process improvements and coordinating with other functions to get them implemented.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as primary point of contact for all major carrier relationships.
- Negotiate rates and drive cost savings with existing and new suppliers
- Coordinate quotes and schedules for customer shipments and returns with Sales and Operations. Closely manage any special shipping requirements with the plants responsible for shipping or receiving orders.
- Ensure that all shipments meet company quality standards and comply with regulations.
- Analyze shipping trends to improve cost and performance through new or existing carriers.
- Review invoices to identify opportunities to reduce costs and bill for more outbound shipping overages.
- Support the creation of detailed SOPs for shipping functions.
- Identify and support improvements in the shipping & packaging processes that will reduce damages and improve the chances of success for claims
- Support the effort to find a systemic approach to quoting of FTL shipments.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers including Red Stag, Jarrett, AIM and other strategic partners.
- Manage the biweekly inbound container quote review process.
- Other tasks as requested
Required Education & Skills:
- 10 years work experience in shipping roles
- Analytical skills- NetSuite and MS Excel proficiency
- Pace Jet experience a plus
