The Assistant Field Manager assigns work, monitors voter-contact and quality goals, reviews field data and reports, and helps maintain a safe, professional, and accountable field operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate daily goals, turf assignments, scripts, schedules, safety procedures, and reporting expectations.
  • Conduct shift launches, field observations, individual check-ins, and team debriefs.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, data quality, timekeeping, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback and additional training when needed.
  • Promptly elevate performance, conduct, attendance, safety, or employee-relations concerns.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding field employees when assigned.
  • Engage community members using approved English- and Spanish-language scripts and materials.
  • Provide accurate information concerning voter registration, voter education, voting by mail, election participation, and other approved civic-engagement topics.
  • Respect individuals who decline to participate or ask that outreach end.
  • Help coordinate voter-registration outreach, materials, quality control, tracking, and submission.
  • Ensure employees complete required training before handling voter-registration applications.
  • Monitor the distribution, collection, safeguarding, and timely transfer of voter-registration materials.
  • Ensure applications are not altered, discarded, delayed, improperly prefilled, or mishandled.
  • Maintain required chain-of-custody and reconciliation records.
  • Immediately report lost, damaged, incomplete, late, or potentially mishandled applications.
  • Use VAN, EveryAction, canvassing applications, dialers, spreadsheets, and other approved systems.
  • Review daily reports for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timely submission.
  • Identify and address missing, duplicate, inconsistent, or potentially inaccurate data.
  • Protect confidential voter, supporter, employee, and organizational information.

  • Ensure employees accurately report all time worked, including required meetings, training, and post-shift reporting.
  • Implement field-safety, weather, transportation, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures.
  • Conduct safety briefings and maintain required check-in, buddy-system, and emergency-contact procedures.
  • Direct employees to leave unsafe locations or suspend field activities when conditions warrant.
  • Promptly report injuries, threats, harassment, accidents, vehicle incidents, or other safety concerns.
  • Maintain appropriate distinctions between MFA’s nonpartisan activities and MFV’s legally permissible advocacy or electoral activities.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and extended campaign-style schedules.
  • Travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
