Title: Paint Technician
Status: Full Time exempt/non-exempt
Department: Power Unit
Reports to: Power Unit Team Lead/Production Supervisor
Purpose of the Position: The Paint Technician supports the manufacturing team by preparing and applying high-quality paint finishes to custom power units. This role plays a key part in ensuring finished products meet or exceed customer expectations through precision, consistency, and attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare power units for paint application by cleaning, surface prep, and masking critical components
- Ensure surfaces are free of contaminants, solvents, or debris prior to painting
- Apply paint finishes according to customer specifications and internal quality standards
- Review and document customer requirements, with the ability to interpret basic engineering drawings
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized paint booth and work area
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and shop equipment.
- Ability to follow documented processes, quality checks, and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift, position, and assemble components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment.
- Strong organizational habits and attention to detail in labeling and documentation.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineering, fabrication, and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a painter in custom or industrial applications
- Strong attention to detail with pride in workmanship and visual quality
- Knowledge of paint mixing, coatings, and various paint mediums
- Understanding of safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop best practices
- Basic experience using Microsoft Office applications
- Commitment to delivering high-quality work that meets customer expectations
- Ability to follow processes while adapting to custom project requirements
- Forklift and overhead crane operation experience.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Working Conditions: Manufacturing floor; must be able to stand, bend, lift without limitations; noise, dust & shavings during light fabrications. Safety training applicable to job will be provided. Requires standing for extended periods of time, repetitive motions, and a high degree of manual precision and fine motor control.
Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
