The Industrial Counter Sales Associate supports daily branch operations by providing exceptional customer service, processing counter and phone/electronic sales, handling inventory, and preparing products for delivery or shipment. This role operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented industrial distribution environment.
Primary
- Deliver high-quality customer service while adhering to company ethics and standards.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, orders, and complaints using effective problem-solving skills.
- Provide accurate product and technical information to support customer needs.
- Process sales transactions and maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Estimate delivery timelines based on inventory levels, supplier availability, and production schedules.
- Conduct outbound follow-ups with potential and existing customers via phone and email.
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming products; ensure accuracy and quality.
- Pick, package, stage, and ship products using company-approved methods and carriers.
- Support inventory management, including cycle counts and quality control.
- Perform assembly and light fabrication work, including hose building and operation of related equipment.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in required training and collaborate with internal teams as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in industrial distribution or hydraulic hose and fittings preferred (Parker Hannifin experience a plus).
- Mechanical aptitude and forklift certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Good customer service and communication skills are required.
- Basic computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs. Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 a plus.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide required.
- Detail oriented with solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be a good listener with above average reasoning ability and make minimal mistakes.
- Must be a good learner who can assimilate product knowledge and skills as they are presented.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer service.
- Must be able to work with a wide variety of people and personalities.
- The essential functions of this position will require the employee to perform the following physical activities:
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook); Epicor Prophet 21 experience a plus.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to learn and apply product knowledge effectively.
- Comfortable with working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with diverse teams.
- Regular, on‑site attendance required.
