What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Lead Maintenance Tech position at MFC?
Key Responsibilities and Job Duties
- Serve as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting and repairing CNC equipment, robotic systems, automated gauges, and associated electrical/PLC control systems.
- Lead and support maintenance technicians during complex repairs, providing direction, guidance, and hands-on training as needed.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on electrical, PLC, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify and correct root causes of equipment issues.
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment; interface with CNC and automation controls to optimize performance and reliability.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Participate in and lead root cause analysis and problem-solving events to implement long-term corrective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA/MFC safety regulations.
- Promote and support the plant’s 5S strategy
- Safely operate forklifts, personnel lifts, and other equipment required to perform maintenance tasks.
Qualifications and Education
- Minimum of 8 years of maintenance experience, with strong emphasis on PLC, electrical, and CNC equipment troubleshooting.
- High School Diploma required
- Proficiency with PLC systems including troubleshooting, basic programming, and I/O diagnostics.
- Comprehensive understanding of CNC controls and automation systems required.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and train maintenance team members.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and adjust to changing production needs.
- Willingness to work overtime or flexible shifts as required.
