Laser Operator / Manufacturing Machine Job Description
- Responsible for all operational functions of steel cutting CO2 Laser and automated material handler (Tower) system
- Use computer and CNC machine control to operate machine
- Perform set-ups, nozzle changes, gas bottle changes, lens cleaning, and other daily and weekly basic maintenance tasks as assigned
- Use a dial caliper and other measurement tools to perform part inspections
- Troubleshoot laser performance, evaluate cut quality and adjust processing conditions as necessary to correct issues
- Maintain required paperwork and documentation
- Basic reading and adjusting of G and M code programs
- Communicate schedule and part completion with supervisors, warehouse personnel, etc.
- Schedule laser and determine raw material needs
- Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas
- Operate Lift truck
- Sort parts occasionally
- Adhere to all safety procedures and policies
Required skills:
- Computer controlled equipment operation
- Basic personal computer and windows operating system skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and shop paperwork
- Ability to use measurement devices
- Ability to repetitively lift 50 lbs., stand for 10 hr. shift, work in fast paced environment
- Ability to retain training
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Advanced education or training related to CNC equipment or Lasers beneficial
Experience:
- CNC equipment or Laser Equipment experience beneficial
Reporting:
This position will report to the Plant Supervisor
This is an hourly position with no weekend work
Current schedule: Monday through Thursday 10-hour days, Fridays 8 hours overtime as needed
Starting Pay Range: $25.57 to $29.02 per hour, depends on background and experience
