Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

We are a growing construction company that builds post-frame (pole) buildings which are constructed by local Amish crews. We are seeking an individual to become part of our team as a Maintenance Technician.

This position works with the Maintenance Manager and Production Manager on preventative maintenance and repairs across a wide range of equipment and some fleet vehicles, both on-site and sometimes off-site. Maintaining, troubleshooting & repairing small engine powered equipment and other larger equipment such as skid steers and boom lifts is an important part of this position. The ideal candidate would have experience in these areas already, with the desire to gain further experience and knowledge as he/she grows with the company. Normal hours are Mon. - Fri., 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. However, there are some instances that require flexibility.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, hardworking, and dependable. Starting pay range is $20.00 to $27.00 per hour with time-and-a-half overtime pay for time worked over 40 hours per week. The starting pay rate will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain small engine performance and operation on all small equipment, concrete power trowels, power screeds, vibratory compactors, concrete saws, generators, air compressors, pneumatic and battery hand tools.
• Troubleshoot and repair problems with small engines, fleet equipment and trailers.
• Maintain heavy equipment through routine scheduled preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair problems with heavy equipment; mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, engine and system performance.
• Assist and carry out preventative maintenance responsibilities of assigned area.
• Assist in updating, developing and improving preventative maintenance programs.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics and facility drawings.
• Basic facility maintenance of minor electrical or plumbing, facility and equipment air, oil, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Perform assigned special projects.
• Operate semi tractor-trailer to move equipment to and from job sites.

Preferred Skills

• Forklift operation experience.
• General pneumatic hand tool maintenance & repair.
• Maintenance experience including but not limited to skid steers, semi tractors and trailers, boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, fleet vehicles, and trailers.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting experience.Sit-down forklift experience.

Minimum Requirements

• Must pass a pre-employment DOT physical exam.
• Must have a clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report will be checked).
• Must have a CDL or be willing to obtain a CDL.
• Must be at least 25 years old due to insurance requirements.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Must possess organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Must be able to bend, lift, kneel, reach, twist, climb, push, and pull.
