Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailer combinations with hopper bottom trailers for transporting bulk agricultural products
- Safely load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries within designated local or regional areas
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to maintain safety standards and vehicle condition
- Load and unload freight accurately, ensuring proper cargo handling for logistics cargo handling requirements
- Maintain detailed records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and inspection reports in accordance with company policies
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Minimum age 25 years with minimum of 2 years verified driving experience
- Proven experience operating heavy trucks, specifically tractor-trailers with manual and/or automatic transmissions
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailers, flatbed, tanker, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment is a plus
- Familiarity with route driving, delivery driving, and over-the-road (OTR) driving routes for regional or local deliveries
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, and safety protocols related to truck driving and cargo handling
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including load & unload activities including operation of manual tarp and hopper doors.
- Able to sweep hoppers between different commodities.
- Excellent navigation skills utilizing GPS systems for efficient route planning
