PROGRAM: FAMILY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The MAC Family Empowerment Program Parent Specialist is responsible for programmatic components that relate to family engagement and participation such as assisting with delivery of weekly workshops, home visits, phone calls, case management, and recruitment. Serves as the primary liaison between parents and MAC staff in the Family Empowerment Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education- Completion of at least two years at a college/university in social services or related fields.
- Experience- Minimum of three years’ experience working with the farmworker community and/or with parents and families.
- Must be highly organized, have strong oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Applicants must have a strong passion for working with at-risk families and youth. Spanish fluency required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Parent Engagement
- Assist with bilingual facilitation of workshops using the Group Teen Triple P Curriculum and the UnidosUS Digital Skills for Life curriculum.
- Assist Program Coordinator in organizing family activities for parents and their children such as the field trips and quarterly workshops.
- Meet with parents to share information regarding community resources.
- Assist in administering surveys to parents to measure program outcomes.
- Participate in MAC outreach events.
Administrative Duties
- Meet on a bi-weekly basis with FEP Parent Coordinator and FEP Team for program progress overview.
- Complete intake pre-app forms during the recruitment process to assess family need/s.
- Have a direct line of communication with the Parent Program Coordinator and Program Manager.
- Work with FEP Parent Coordinator and MAC staff to attend recruitment and outreach activities within the community.
- Complete office hours at MAC Parent Resource Center and MAC Office.
- Submit Timesheets and Mileage Reimbursement Form to the Director of Finance as instructed by senior leadership.
Other Duties
- Assist the organization with major events such as, but not limited to: Farmworker Student Recognition Ceremony, Noche de Paz, Homestead-Miami Mariachi Conservatory performances, fundraising events, etc.
Position
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- $18.00-$20.00 Hourly
