Primary Purpose
Support the improvement of student performance in Mexia ISD by refining curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices through the implementation of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. This role is dedicated to driving school improvement by grounding district-wide practices in the Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas (LIFT) initiatives, focusing on high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), data-driven instruction, and rigorous classroom standards. The position ensures positive learning environments with high performance results by coordinating professional development and providing leadership for district technology-based assessment programs.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate.
- Master's degree.
- Doctorate degree (Preferred).
- Administrative certification.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced level of curriculum development, lesson design, and assessment.
- Working knowledge of LIFT Texas education initiatives, specifically in implementing HQIM and evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement professional development as a presenter and facilitator.
- Working knowledge of STAAR data disaggregation and an advanced level of working knowledge of TEKS.
- Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to identify instructional gaps and drive turnaround efforts.
- Strong skills in human relations, leadership, mentoring, and relating to diverse populations.
Experience
- Three years of successful teaching experience.
- Three years of experience in an instructional leadership role.
- Proven experience in School Turnaround, with a track record of driving rapid growth in low-performing environments.
- Experience in building district-level continuous improvement efforts and aligning instructional programs.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Leadership & Principal Coaching
- Coach and lead school principals to strengthen their capacity as instructional leaders and ensure the effective implementation of LIFT frameworks at the campus level.
- Work collaboratively with content coordinators to ensure a quality instructional program and the achievement of district goals.
- Demonstrate and maintain high standards of professional conduct and communication with all stakeholders.
- Ensure that all instructional programs and activities conform to federal, state, and district guidelines.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to principals regarding effective technology-based assessment practices.
LIFT Implementation & School Improvement
- Oversee the district educational curriculum and instruction program with a focus on LIFT foundational pillars: Planning, Observation/Feedback, and Student Work Analysis.
- Supervise content coordinators to ensure alignment between curriculum, instruction, and professional learning based on student performance data.
- Support the development of an instruction and intervention framework, including Response to Intervention (RtI), and Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to support struggling learners.
- Facilitate and coordinate professional learning opportunities to build assessment literacy and data-informed decision-making.
- Communicate the goals, plans, and progress of professional learning aligned to district and LIFT initiatives.
Program Oversight
- Manage and request the appropriations of services and funding necessary for the educational program.
- Oversee the Department of Accountability and the Instructional Technology Program.
- Oversee specialized programs, including K-12 Gifted and Talented, Advanced Academics, and the EL/Bilingual Program.
- Facilitate and coordinate the district summer school program.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands: Ability to work collaboratively with campus leadership; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions and frequent keyboarding; occasional light lifting (less than 15 pounds) and transport of materials for presentations.
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; includes occasional district-wide and statewide travel.
