What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refrigeration Technician position at MEVA Facility Services?
MEVA Facility Services (MFS) is the single-source facility services partner for national restaurant and corporate brands across the region. When a walk-in goes down, a rooftop unit quits, or a drain backs up, our clients call one number — and we handle it, end to end.
Demand for our restaurant equipment and facility service work is growing fast, and we’re hiring a Multi-Trade Service Technician who can diagnose and repair across refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and general facility systems. This is a hands-on field role for someone who likes variety, solves problems independently, and takes pride in getting a kitchen back up and running.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration — walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, prep tables, and refrigerated cases
- Service light commercial HVAC, including rooftop units (RTUs), and respond to no-cool/no-heat calls
- Handle plumbing repairs — drains, fixtures, water heaters, faucets, grease traps, and leaks
- Perform general facility maintenance — doors, hardware, basic electrical, lighting, and low-voltage as needed
- Run service calls efficiently and professionally inside active restaurants and commercial sites, meeting client brand standards
- Manage your day through Jobber — accept work orders, document findings with photos, log parts and time, and close out jobs cleanly
- Operate a company vehicle responsibly and keep your truck stocked, organized, and ready
- Communicate clearly with dispatch, clients, and managers on status, parts needs, and follow-ups
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergency service
What We’re Looking For
- 2 years of hands-on commercial service experience in one or more of: refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or restaurant equipment
- EPA 608 Universal certification (required for refrigerant handling) — or willingness to obtain quickly
- Strong cross-trade troubleshooting — comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required for company vehicle)
- Reliable, self-directed, and customer-facing — you represent MFS at every site
- Smartphone-comfortable; able to work in an app-based dispatch and documentation workflow
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
Bonus Points
- CFESA certification or commercial cooking equipment experience (fryers, ovens, ranges, griddles)
- HVAC, electrical, or plumbing licensure/journeyman credentials
- Experience servicing national/enterprise restaurant accounts and meeting uptime expectations
- Familiarity with Jobber or similar field-service platforms
Physical Requirements & Conditions
- Lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working on rooftops
- Working in hot kitchens, walk-in freezers, and tight mechanical spaces
- Standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods
- Occasional after-hours, weekend, and emergency response
What We Offer
- Competitive pay based on experience, with overtime and on-call premiums
- Company vehicle, fuel card, tools, phone/tablet — we set you up to succeed
- Benefits: health, PTO and 401k
- Steady, year-round work with a growing enterprise client base
- Real growth path — cross-training across trades and room to advance as MFS scales
