Job Summary
Metz Environmental Services is actively seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Environmental Services to lead our EVS Team in facilities' cleaning, sanitation, and environmental health programs. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of janitorial operations, and patient transport, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, residents/patients, visitors, or clients.
The ideal candidate is passionate about maintaining high standards of cleanliness, has strong leadership skills, and possesses a solid understanding of environmental services in healthcare or commercial settings. Your leadership will directly impact the safety and satisfaction of everyone who enters our facilities.
Critical Tasks:
- Manages and directs the Environmental Services department to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, residents, medical practitioners, staff members, and visitors.
- Participates in the research, preparation, and development of the department budget. Manages and tracks department expenditures within budget guidelines and adheres to organizational financial best practices.
- Investigates complaints, reports findings, and applies appropriate resolutions to any concerns or issues.
- Performs routine and ad hoc inspections of completed work in order to identify areas for corrective actions and ensure optimal departmental effectiveness.
- Oversees and manages routine preventative maintenance programs in order to ensure functionality of all departmental equipment.
- Determines scheduling and staffing requirements necessary to meet the departmental needs.
- Develops and implements a quality assurance program and maintains quality assurance measures to ensure inspections meet expectations.
- Serves on various committees, attends meetings, and provides written and/or oral reports of services and activities regarding the department.
- Communicates, listens, and responds to the needs of patients/ residents, medical practitioners, and staff members.
- Provides leadership and works to develop and retain a service-oriented staff through recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and day-to-day management practices that support mission, objectives, and service expectations.
- Provides leadership and participates in programs and activities that promote workplace diversity and a positive employee relations environment.
- Identifies the education and training needs of staff in order to organize employee development initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, Environmental Health or closely related field.
- 5 years of experience as an Environmental Services Manager in a healthcare environment.
- Continuing CPR and AED training and certification.
